Cannabis Prices Vary, But Here Are Two of the World’s Currently Most Expensive Strains

When it comes to cannabis for the average consumer, the prices aren’t too high (depending on where you live, this is true, but not always). But some are more affordable than others—and some strains are downright pricey.

According to Marijuana World News, a gram of cannabis will cost around $8-$14 in the U.S., with the “expensive” strains netting $20 per gram. They also note that in the U.K, it’s not uncommon to see prices ranging between $40-$50 a gram.

However, there are a few strains that blow the lid off of common strain pricing. The strain called Isla OG is worth $800 per ounce (or $28.57 a gram). It’s often referred to “cannabis in a can” because it’s sold in 1/8 ounces and it comes in a can to keep it fresh. It gained its fame after rapper 2 Chainz featured the strain on his TV show called Most Expensivest Shit—and he followed the introduction by rolling the strain into a 24 karat gold joint.

Another expensive strain is The Oracle, which again as stated by Marijuana World News, is “just a re-branded AC/DC strain according to genetic profiling.” Despite those similarities, such a rebranding effort for this strain (which offers 45 percent of THC, by the way!) has shot the price up exponentially. Some buyers were apparently buying the strain for $1,000 per clone, or $200 per seed.

It’s impossible to rank every single cannabis strain available by price, as there are bound to be some that are even more expensive than what was detailed above, but strains like Isla OG and The Oracle are the perfect example of the strains that are coming on strong.
