The band’s been called the “American Radiohead.” It’s been blamed for making roots-rock fashionable. Consider Wilco guilty as charged, my friends. While it’s been under the major music label Warner Bros. Records for most of its musical career, Wilco is nevertheless labeled as an indie band with alternative and country influences. The band’s received two Grammy awards for album A Ghost is Born (Best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording Package), and it has been nominated a total of six times. But the most notorious album to be produced by this band is undoubtedly Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, as the album was deemed by Reprise Records as most unworthy and it’s what contributed to the subsequent dismissal of the band from its storied roster. That album ultimately became Wilco’s best selling record. I sure hope someone at Reprise lost their job over this.
