NFL Cannabis Policy Up for Discussion During Super Bowl Week

NFL Cannabis PolicyThis February’s much anticipated Super Bowl will be accompanied by a thoughtful discussion called “Cannabis in Professional Sports.” The conversation will be held during the same week of the Super Bowl, which is happening on Sunday, February 5.

Doctors for Cannabis Regulation (DFCR) will be present at the event. With a tagline like “Because you don’t have to be pro-marijuana to oppose its prohibition,” DFCR’s mission is to show physicians why it is necessary for the government to allow medical cannabis regulation. The organization has a new campaign called “Doctors and Players for NFL Cannabis Reform,” and they will delve into this important topic at this event.

Thrown by MERRY JANE and VAPEN Clear CBD, the public is welcome to join special guests on Wednesday, February 1. The event is taking place at Revention Music Center in Houston, Texas. There will be presentations on the NFL’s stance on cannabis consumption by professional athletes in the league, in addition to discusses on cannabis research and other relevant topics.

Attendees can participate in meet and greets with former NLF players and an auction with proceeds benefiting the DFCR. Special guests include former Offensive Lineman for the Chicago Bears, Eben Britton, former Quarterback of the Chicago Bears, Jim McMahon and former Offensive Tackle for the New Orleans Saints, Kyle Turley, among others.

Dr. Sue Sisley will also make an appearance at this special event—Dr. Sisley is both a DFCR Board Member, is part of the NFL Concussion team and has been credited for doing the research approved by the National Institute on Drug Abuse on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and cannabis.

With so many professional athletes in the NFL coming out in support of the NFL allowing cannabis as an alternative medicine to opioids. Having support and evidence from the medical community will only continue to a need for the NFL to change its stance on medical cannabis.
