In a town with an amazing electronic
scene, it can often be difficult to pick out the truly dedicated artists from
the absolute sea of DJs and producers who call Denver their home. The serious
musicians in the EDM scenes are the ones who actively advocate for their music
and their community, come out with new music, constantly play shows and have a
viable presence. Cloud-D is one of those musicians.

Cloud-D makes “Innovative Psychedelic
Bass Music,” as he put it, and he has been doing so for the past six years,
when he graduated from messing around on friends’ computers to buying a laptop
of his own and taking his craft seriously. Since then, he has also started
DJing as well as producing, both to bring the music he loves to the masses and
to get a better handle on how to mix and master his own tunes.

“The music here in Denver is amazing, and
the scene has a lot of cool ‘families’ that unite together; we are good at
looking out for each other,” he says of the Denver EDM scene. “The sound is usually
on-point, and the venues around town are a lot of fun. As far as my view on the
scene from a producer standpoint, I’d have to say it’s very tight-knit, and only
a few promoters are in control of most of the events, which can be interesting
for local artists. I’ve seen promoters trying to profit off of what’s trending
or always looking to benefit off others, draining the scene in a really
negative way. And I’ve also seen individuals and promoters here in Denver who
are pushing the sound for the movement, backed by good intentions and
contributing to the whole thing. Even with the ups and downs, I’d never want to
be located anywhere else. We are enveloped in music, art and loving people.”

As far as his love for cannabis, the
roots go deep for Cloud-D. “I was blessed to have grown up here in Colorado and
have been contributing to the cannabis movement since I was a youngin.’ I’ve
learned a lot about this power plant and can say I am confident that it is on
this earth to benefit us. I encourage others to research the science behind
everything, and learn the wonderful things it is doing for all of us and our
communities.”

In regards to legalization, he feels
that while Colorado is “still figuring it out and trying to get things to where
they should be to move things along smoothly,” but he also thinks “Denver is
leading by example and we’re doing things as proper as we can.”

Cloud-D is currently working on new
music, although there are no official release dates announced yet, and he will
be making an appearance at “Weirdos in the Woods” in Blackhawk,
Colorado the first weekend in June. Those who love positive energy, cannabis,
and bass music will surely enjoy the sounds of Cloud-D.
