sport-970443_1280If you haven’t already heard, there’s a new event that’s been gaining a lot of attention recently. The 420 Games are similar to the exercise based “Cupid Run” or “Fun Run,” themed running courses that feature costume wearing runners or promises of color dust thrown at people, but this run has a much better message. The 420 Games brings together cannabis advocates and supporters to participate in a variety of athletic events. Whether running a race or participating in a biking competition, the games invite everyone to not only get out of the house and get exercise, but to also help fight against the stigma that leads people to believe that all cannabis users are lazy or unhealthy.

Until now, the 420 Games have mainly been happening on the west coast. On Saturday, September 24 and Saturday, October 1, the event will be heading to Denver and Boulder for the first annual Denver and Boulder 420 Games! For this particular event, participants are invited to experience a 4.20 mile run. Both Denver and Boulder are cities that are well-known for their cannabis success, so plenty of cannabis businesses and other related vendors will be present to show off their wares and services. There will also be a group yoga cool-down session for those who want to relax after a successful run. Also, there will be many notable cannabis celebrities present as well, such as Olympic gold medalists, retired NFL players and UFC fighters as well. The biggest reward for finishing the race though is the live performance by reggae artist Pato Banton.

Cannabis is extremely useful is treating many different health conditions, and has been known to vastly improve quality of life no matter the circumstance. If you want to join in on the run to prove to skeptics how beneficial medical cannabis can be, lace up your running shoes and make it happen—for cannabis!
