[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]I[/dropcap]t’s hard to nail what Willie Hugh Nelson is truly loved for in terms of his art—his music, books, poetry, acting or activism. But it is easy to guess what cannabis or health enthusiasts would love him for—merely for his new cannabis brand Willie’s Remedy, a sister company of Willie’s Reserve. The new brand has embraced the health-benefits of cannabidiol (CBD) and incorporated them into its selection of CBD-enriched coffee.

“Hemp production in America was stifled for so long, but it could now make all the difference for small independent farmers,” Nelson said in a statement introducing the new brand. “Hemp isn’t just good for our farmers and our economy; it’s good for our soil, our environment—and our health.”

Willie’s Remedy’s coffee is a medium-dark whole-bean blend with “flavor notes of cherry and cocoa.” Each 8 oz. cup contains 7mg of hemp-derived CBD. Nelson’s wife Annie is supervising the new Willie’s Remedy brand and has plans to release similar lines of products in the coming year, including topicals and confections.

To derive the full benefits and effects of the coffee, Willie’s Remedy suggests that drinkers of the coffee brew the beans in a French press instead of a paper filter, since straining would remove a good amount of CBD oil from the beverage. And if you are worried about your morning coffee getting you intoxicated, don’t! “The Willie’s Remedy line is a purposeful departure from Willie’s Reserve,” Annie Nelson stated. “It’s not about getting high, but it’s still all about Willie and the benefits we believe cannabis has to offer.”

Another selling point is that you can essentially purchase this line of products from anywhere in the country, since the CBD ingredient in the coffee is derived from hemp which is now legal in all states thanks to the most recent Farm Bill.
