fter almost exactly a three-year break between albums, Denver’s Snake Rattle Rattle Snake has returned to follow up its debut with a captivating blend of dark post-punk and dance pop. Totem picks up where the group left off on 2011’s Sin Eater, and finds the band continuing to explore a musical world of shimmering darkness, as spectacular as the night sky in its Colorado home. Snake Rattle Rattle Snake comes off as an even tighter group on Totem; its songwriting is more refined and honed, and its musical instincts a little sharper. This is a band well worth paying careful attention to.
