If your membership in the De-volution fan club has lapsed—it’s time to renew. Hot off their stints at the Winter Olympics, Coachella and the KROQ Weenie Roast, the original freaky fab fivesome—brothers Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh, brothers Gerald and Bob Casale and Josh Freese—is set to release the band’s first album in 20 years. Something for Everybody, which comes out June 15, was originally scheduled to come out in late 2009 but the release date ended up being pushed back. The work is something of a collaboration with fans: Earlier this year via a satirical PowerPoint presentation, the boys asked domeheads at the SXSW Music and Media Conference in Austin to decide on the album title. The band then opened up its website so fans could choose 12 out of 16 tracks for the disc. Rumored winners include the pogo-worthy “Fresh,” robo-synth “Watch Us Work It” and the techno-alarmist “Don’t’ Shoot (I’m a Man)”—all proof that the now gray-suited, blue-energy-domed Devo hasn’t devolved in the least. In fact, they might well be the future—if music could get so lucky. Something for Everybody retails for $13.98; Check out www.clubdevo.com for more. (Stacy Davies)
