here have been cannabis scavenger hunts in other places,
but not yet in Denver – until this January when the first ever Nug Hunt will
take place downtown.

The hunt is going to be put on by Hemp House, a group that
makes cannabis-inspired accessories. The prizes will be 24 coupons to get an eighth
of cannabis for a penny. Clues will be stashed all over town, and the revealed
map will lead to live music and entertainment at the end of the hunt. There
will also be door prizes for all those who attend in addition to the 24 who
finish first, consisting of books, clothing by Hemp House and free rolling
papers.

According to the website, “All contestants will
meet at a location sent via email. At said location, you will sign in and pick
up your first clue! From there, you will have to crack the code and follow the
directions that will lead you to the next location and so on… This will
eventually lead you to our Hemp House party and you will receive your Gift Card.”

Nug Hunt is being officially organized by Alex Peterson, the
founder of Hemp House. I.D.s will be checked at the event, and attendees must
be 21 or over in order to play. You also have to sign up in advance online, to
keep the event orderly and organized. The event will not be allowing any public
smoking and not giving away any actual plant matter, just coupons. Also, no
coupons are for free cannabis; the buyers all still have to pay a penny, making
the proceedings completely above board and legal.

This scavenger hunt is inspired by one that took place in September
in Canada, put on by The Toronto Friends of Marijuana. That event was a success
as well, and the group actually gave away cannabis, although, because of the
laws in Canada, the only eligible contenders were medical patients.

This event in January promises to be a success, and also
have a great turnout. For more information, or to sign up for the event, go to www.hemphouseclothing.com.
