New Years Music Playlist

Published

on

Music Playlist2016 has been a rough year.  The world lost a great many incredible musicians: David Bowie, Prince, Lemmy Kilmister, Sharon Jones, Leon Russell and Leonard Cohen just to name a few.  Additionally, for all of the work cannabis activists have done helping a great many states achieve progressive cannabis legislation this year, we now face an incoming administration with a new Attorney General with such uneducated views that in April of 2016 at a Senate hearing he claimed that “Good people don’t smoke marijuana.”  Needless to say, this upcoming New Years Eve doesn’t seem to have the same celebratory mood of years past.

However, it is for these feelings of hopelessness and grief that it is most important that we come together, love one another, and have a good time.  With the loss of so many great icons, the stage is now set for new legends to step up, blow us away with their art and creativity, open our minds to new possibilities, and change our lives for the better.  2017 will certainly be a year of challenges, so let’s ring in one more good time to both celebrate the positives that were achieved as well as to psyche ourselves up and motivate us for the challenges ahead.

For those throwing great New Years Eve parties, let this playlist be the guide to letting clouds of smoke billow big, while still remembering those we lost this year:
