Iconic actor and musician Corey Feldman was charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis in Mangham, Louisiana while on tour with his band, Corey Feldman & The Angels. Despite the charges, the incident was friendly and Feldman wowed the police officer with autographs and even an interview with a small local paper.

Mangham Police Chief Perry Fleming told The News-Star that Feldman was charged with misdemeanor cannabis possession, driving on a suspended license and speeding. Feldman, 46, was able to walk away after paying a $640 fine. Feldman’s security guard, Emanuel I. Speal III, 42, was charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia and paid a fine of $590. Other people on the tour bus also received other drug-related charges.

According to Feldman, his charges will be dropped once his California-based band members produce a valid medical cannabis recommendation to the police. “Hi everybody & Happy 22nd! [For] the record, I was not arrested or put in jail,” Feldman tweeted. “I received a misdemeanor in Louisiana, due [to] a member of my [band] charged due [to] having legal medicines without their particular bottles. No illegal or street drugs were found on the bus at all! Which is why nobody spent the night in jail. However we were promised that these charges could all be dropped with proof of proper scripts! It was a bit of a good ol shakedown! After we paid them in cash, they asked [for] pics & autographs, & then called the local paper [to] do interviews!”

Feldman is definitely not shy about his support for cannabis. Last April in San Bernardino, Feldman & The Angels played before the crowd at the High Times Cannabis Cup. Feldman told People that he was introduced to cannabis by the late River Phoenix on the set of Stand By Me, the adaptation of Stephen King’s renowned non-horror novel The Body, when he was 14 years old. The cannabis charges come hot on the heels of his allegations of sexual abuse he endured as a child actor. Feldman appears to be un-phased by the cannabis-related charges and will continue on his tour with his band.
