The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is returning to California for the first time since the state legalized recreational cannabis last November. Although the adult use of cannabis is now legal, attendees are still not allowed to bring or consume cannabis at the event.

WeedMaps and marketing firm Talent Resources however have come together to create an “oasis” for cannabis consumers. The gathering spot will be located six miles outside of the Empire Polo Grounds, where the festival is taking place. The festival will run on consecutive weekends—April 14-16 and April 21-23.

TMZ describes the details of the cannabis safe haven as having plenty to offer to cannabis consumers. “Our ganja sources tell us the spot will feature 2 grow houses, a ‘greenhouse,’ and 5 geodesic domes to test different strains from GenX, Brass Knuckles and West Coast Cure,” TMZ reported. The outlet also stated that each of the domes will offer a different cannabis experience; smoking, vaping, edibles, etc.

This year’s Coachella features A-list headliners like Lady Gaga, Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar. The event runs all day Friday through Sunday, on back-to-back weekends in April, and takes place across five main stages, along with several smaller stages for local acts. Organizers of Coachella have not commented or endorsed the “oasis.”

If the “oasis” is a success, then it could possibly lead to similar growth in the future, which may allow it to be brought closer to the event, or even have a dedicated space inside the event next year, since full recreational legalization will have taken effect by then.

There is no word yet regarding if there will be a charge to enter the “oasis” or for the cannabis that is available for consumption.
