Kreayshawn has hit the scene running. The “Gucci Gucci” rapper made a name for herself by dissing the obvious, and quite a few bigwigs as well. But the girl’s got swagger and already forming a signature look. Kreayshawn’s been sportin‘ all kinds of thick frames from vintage to heart shaped. And she’s not the only one with a four-eye fetish—these big names have been geared up in frames for a long time.

Rivers Cuomo

Cuomo made glasses cool in the late ’90s. The Weezer frontman is known to sport some good ol‘ black horned rims. But there was a time when Cuomo shied away from his frames. Following the band’s initial success, Cuomo removed his glasses to distance himself from the “Buddy Holly” vibe. Later, he grew a beard, put his glasses back on and attended Harvard.

Kanye West

If you grew up in the ’80s you probably called them “Venetian blinds.” But if you were paying attention in 2007 when Kanye West teamed up with Daft Punk for “Stronger,” you know them as “shutter shades.” West didn’t so much reinvent the sunglass; he just borrowed an idea from the ’80s. The shades were previously used in music videos for “Glitter Prize” by Simple Minds in 1982 and “Obsession” by Animotion in 1984.

Dwayne Wayne

From clip-ons to flip-ups, sometimes the ’80s really is a different world. Dwayne Wayne would know. As a star on The Cosby Show spin-off sitcom, Wayne popularized flip-up glasses. Even though we don’t get it, the math nerd must have done something right—he did get with Lisa Bonet.

Sarah Palin

Whether she’s going to a tea party or roughing it in Alaska, Sarah Palin is always framed up. The former Alaskan governor, former Republican Party Vice President nominee, former inspiration for Tina Fey, author, television reality star and mother sports the rimless kind—a Kazou Kawasaki 704 to be exact. And for as little as $12.99 you can too—er, at least you can purchase an imitation. (Lynn Lieu)
