Comic icon and former presidential hopeful, Rosanne Barr, is looking to add another title to her resume, cannabis collective owner.

Barr is one of twenty applicants who were selected via lottery last year to open collectives in Santa Ana, California.

The new establishment will be called Roseanne’s Joint, and it will sell unique cannabis products like chocolate covered macadamia nuts, grown at the comic’s farm in Hawaii. Barr’s partner in this endeavor, Aaron Herzberg, promises that the comedian will make occasional appearances.

“I’m proud to be a cultural pioneer at the forefront of another wave of progress! And, we’re proud of the city of Santa Ana as we continue to move into the era of recognizing cannabis as the natural, therapeutic, herbal substance medical science has proven it to be,” Barr said in a statement. “Roseanne’s Joint will be a responsible, contributing member of, and addition to, the community.”

Barr will join fellow television star Woody Harrelson, who is trying to open a dispensary in Hawaii, and Cypress Hill rapper B-Real who also won a lottery spot in Santa Ana.

The 63-year-old comic, who suffers from glaucoma and macular degeneration, has been very vocal about the healing properties of cannabis. Barr sat down with CULTURE back in 2012 to talk activisim, legalization and passion in an exclusive interview and cover story. She is continuing that passionate activism through her work with Roseanne’s Joint. “She’s very spiritual, she’s very holistic, she’s extremely into natural remedies, and I can tell you that she believes very strongly that marijuana is medicine,” Herzberg said. “And she wants us to educate patients in a way that I don’t think many other dispensaries are doing and make it a safe and comfortable environment.”

At 5,000 square feet, Roseanne’s Joint will be roughly three times the size of an average dispensary. Construction of the establishment should be complete this April, but Barr and company are already thinking about licensing out their products to other dispensaries in the future.

Santa Ana Police Commander, Chris Revere, has stated that 10 of the 20 new Santa Ana dispensaries have been awarded regulatory safety permits, six are currently in the application process and four have yet to apply for their permits.
