Just a day away from the the start of CMJ Music Marathon and we’d thought we’d bring you this short interview with Sydney four-piece The Jezabels’ Heather Shannon.
What are you looking forward to at CMJ?
Being in New York City! The best city in the world. I have heard a lot of nice things about Webster Hall which is where we are playing. It should be a great show I think…
What can be expected from The Jezebels in the following year?
After the next couple of months of touring we are going to settle down and write another album. And we are VERY ready to do this. We will be in London in winter being cosy in the studio while it snows outside. Then more touring with new songs.
Do you have any opinions on the legalization of marijuana?
I am not one of those people that think marijuana is harmless. I know that people don’t lose their lives from pot but I have seen a lot of people, some friends really suffer from smoking too much. And it’s not only hard for them, but for the people that care about them. I think that because it is not a deadly drug, people tend to overlook the mental repercussions it can have for a person who uses too much. That said, it seems that overuse of illicit drugs like marijuana generally decrease in the societies that legalize them. Maybe because information about the drug is more readily available.
