Nancy Botwin has learned a lot of things and we’ve all come along to enjoy the ride. The Showtime series will kick up again this month, but if you’ve been missing out on some Weeds here’s a little bit about how far the Botwins, their friends and associates have come:

Season 1

Nancy Botwin is a suburban housewife who begins selling marijuana to her neighbors in the fictional neighborhood Agrestic after her husband dies of a heart attack. She gets help from dealer Heylia James, Heylia’s nephew Conrad, accountant and city councilman Doug Wilson, lawyer Dean Hodes, brother-in-law and freeloader Andy Botwin, college student and marijuana seller Sanjay and rival-dealer-turned-obsessed-lover-turned-hired-muscle Alejandro. Season 1 centers on how Nancy incorporates her new business with her day job as a mother of two: Silas and Shane. Nancy begins dating Peter Scottson, who turns out to be a DEA agent. At the end of the season Conrad convinces Nancy to expand her operation by growing her own weed and solidifies a team. Lesson learned: How to be an entrepreneur.

Season 2

Nancy dives deeper into her business, opening a hydroponic grow-house with Conrad and developing MILF Weed. Her DEA boyfriend finds out about her operation and suggests they get married for legal protection.

Celia, Dean’s wife, launches a drug-free campaign complete with surveillance cameras. Silas becomes ever more aware of Nancy’s business and begins vandalizing the neighborhood—starting with Celia’s cameras.

Nancy decides her relationship with Peter isn’t worth it. Peter overhears Nancy and bribes her and Conrad. Convinced that Peter is planning on killing Conrad after the deal is made, Heylia hires Armenian mobsters to kill Peter. Nancy’s buyer U-Turn demands the entire MILF Weed crop at gunpoint. The mobsters demand payment at gunpoint. Silas steals the batch of weed and is pulled over by Celia and the cops for vandalism. Lesson learned: Keep your enemies close, keep your friends even closer.

Season 3

U-Turn pays Nancy’s debt to the mobsters, making her his to deal with. Celia finds the harvest in Silas car and dumps it into Nancy’s pool.

U-Turn starts a war with Mexican dealers. Nancy works off her debt to U-Turn throughout the season until his associate Marvin suffocates him. After Marvin botches an attempted truce with the Mexicans, Nancy clears her debt. Silas begins selling and growing. Shane begins talking to his dead father. And bikers begin threatening Nancy’s business. She turns to Mexican dealer Guillermo to burn down the bikers’ grow field, causing a huge fire which spreads into Agrestic. Nancy decides to take advantage of the fire and torches her own home to start a new life. Lesson learned: Thug means never having to say you’re sorry.

Season 4

The Botwins relocate near the Mexican border to Ren Mar, where Nancy begins working for Guillermo smuggling drugs into the U.S. Everyone names Celia when questioned about the grow house in Agrestic and she is put in jail, where she agrees to spy on Nancy in exchange for her freedom. Guillermo sets Nancy up in a maternity store as a front for an underground drug tunnel. Celia is caught spying and spared when Nancy convinces the Mexicans she is working for her. After discovering the tunnel, Nancy tells a DEA agent and the store is raided. Nancy also begins a relationship with Guillermo’s boss and mayor of Tijuana, Esteban Reyes. When Esteban finds out Nancy ratted on the tunnel, he intends to kill her until Nancy tells him she is pregnant with his child. Lesson learned: Always have a backup plan.

Season 5

Esteban proposes to Nancy but then breaks it off due to pressure from Pilar, a powerful woman in Mexican politics. He arranges a birthing room in his house so Nancy can have the baby without any records. She escapes with Andy’s help to her obstetrician Dr. Audra Kitson, who takes her to the hospital and delivers the baby. Esteban wouldn’t sign the birth certificate so Andy agrees to sign it. Celia begins to sell marijuana with You’re Pretty cosmetic products and at the end of the season begins assembling what seems like her own marijuana dealing team, much like Nancy’s in season 1. In the last episode of the season, Pilar pulls Nancy aside and threatens her children. Without warning Pilar is struck on the head and falls into a nearby pool. She ends the season floating face down bleeding. Shane appears next to Nancy holding a croquet mallet. Lesson learned: Don’t get too cocky.

Season 6

The Botwins go on the lam. They all get fake IDs and develop fake personas. The family first travels to a hotel where they become scab laborers, then to an RV park where they are ran out of town. They end up in Nancy’s hometown, at her former high school teacher Mr. Schiff’s house. The family is discovered by a journalist who ends up leading Esteban to Nancy. Mr. Schiff robs a post office in order to get tickets out of the country. At the airport, Nancy gets Stevie, Andy, Silas, Shane and Mr. Schiff  to board a plane. Mr. Schiff is arrested for the post office robbery. Esteban intends on killing Nancy after walking her and the baby out of the airport. But as they exit the building the FBI are waiting to arrest Nancy, who confesses to the murder of Pilar. Lesson learned: Don’t start a drug ring, marry a DEA agent, listen to anyone named U-Turn, burn your own house down, marry a drug lord and/or the mayor of TJ, let your son play with mallets or try to outrun hardened criminals . . . Unless you have a Plan C.
