Celebrities endorse cannabis products left and right, but rarely celebrities with the merit of Whoopi Goldberg. The co-host of The View and co-star of classics like Ghost is now entering the cannabis market in a big way. Whoopi has made it clear that she believes medical cannabis is “not a joke,” and has partnered with Maya Elisabeth to form Whoopi & Maya, a line of cannabis products that provide menstrual relief.

Whoopi’s granddaughters inherited her painful menstrual cramps- and nine out of 10 women also suffer from chronic dysmenhorrhea. Whoopi is now enabling women all over the world to medicate with cannabis the way they see fit. Her beautifully-packaged cannabis line includes a balm, a THC tincture, a CBD-rich sipping chocolate and a bath soak.

“For me, I feel like if you don’t want to get high, high, this is a product specifically just to get rid of discomfort,” Goldberg told Vanity Fair. “Smoking a joint is fine, but most people can’t smoke a joint and go to work. This, you can put it in your purse,” she added. “You can put the rub on your lower stomach and lower back at work, and then when you get home you can get in the tub for a soak or make tea, and it allows you to continue to work throughout the day.” Whoopi herself prefers to vape kush to relieve her glaucoma-related headaches. Whoopi’s line will include CBD-only products for those who don’t want any high at all.

Whoopi opened up a little deeper about the reasons behind her support for cannabis in a recent  Newsweek interview. “I’ve always been in favor of cannabis, she explained. “I always felt like it was a great, wonderful drug. But I’ve seen over the last 50 years how it’s dealt with. I’ve been doing research, discovering the lie of cannabis as a Schedule I drug. Based on folks who work with hemp, we see that there are a lot of applications for this. I’ve seen magical things happening with children with seizures—all this research about parents who are not trying to get their kids high [but want] to change the quality of their kids’ lives.”

Whoopi & Maya line is scheduled for release in April.
