On Dec. 1, Discovery Channel premieres the first medical cannabis reality show Weed Wars. The four-week series follows Oakland’s Harborside Health Center, the world’s largest dispensary, through its day-to-day operations touching on the dispensary’s plight—operating within controversial regulations—and the underpinnings of growing and medicating, all the while examining the lives of everyone involved from the amateur grower salesman to the fearless activist leader and executive director, the famed Steve DeAngelo. Full disclaimer: This probably isn’t for fans of Weeds or those who want to know how to whack a dealer. Weed Wars highlights a legitimate business facing legitimate problems.
