The legal cannabis market has continued to
attract new and “serious” ($$$) investors. As such, it comes as no surprise to
industry watchers that the nation’s most famously savvy investor, Warren
Buffett, appears to be hovering as well.

In the last week, Cubic Designs, a company
that maximizes warehouse space and operations and—even more significantly—a
subsidiary of Warren Buffet’s empire, has sent over 1,000 letters to cannabis
dispensaries around the country offering to help them maximize existing grow
space.

The company apparently began to explore the
vertical after being contacted by existing cannabis entrepreneurs.  It is now targeting dispensaries because grow
operations are less easy to find in the hope that word of mouth marketing will
reach their intended audience.

Warehouse growing is quickly becoming the
agricultural production method of choice in a new and highly entrepreneurial cannabis
market.  Not only does the practice allow
growers to better manage costs and yield, but it creates a new model,
literally, for all agricultural production in the U.S. As such, warehouse
agriculture is a vertical within the industry that has consistently grown and
become refined this year in particular.

This segment of the business is also
attractive to investors because it allows them to enter the field while not
investing directly in grow operations.  Because
of this, grow technology and real estate management companies have continued to
post impressive returns, and this year, have been a favourite on the emerging
public market.

With a Buffett-connected company now
looking seriously at this investment opportunity, that interest in this part of
the cannabis business is only expected to expand as reform rolls on around the
country.
