Cannabis PlanetThe premiere episode of Cannabis Planet aired Saturday, and it featured actor Cooper Andrews from AMC’s The Walking Dead. Andrews plays “Jerry” on the top-rated award-winning series. The first episode also included bits from former NBA champion John Salley, Dr. Lester Grinspoon, Chef Mike Delao and comedian Ngaio Bealum. The new 30-minute program will inform its viewers about how cannabis can be used as a food, fuel, fiber and medicine.

Cannabis Planet premiered on October 14 on KJLA in Los Angeles, WRNN in New York, WMDE in Washington, D.C., WACP in Philadelphia and WHDT in Palm Beach. Local listings are available at CannabisPlanet.tv. Watch the sneak preview here.

Andrews, admittedly, is a novice to the cannabis world. “I’m new to cannabis. I just started six months ago, and the positive changes that have happened is something I want to talk about,” Cooper admitted in a video for Cannabis Planet last April. “I think a big reason why people are afraid of cannabis is the fact that it’s portrayed in a really negative light. I think there has to be a change in how people see it.”

Cannabis Planet originally sought out to be broadcast on Dish Network and ATT/Direct TV, but was rejected from both networks. Cannabis Planet was also rejected by KSHV in Las Vegas.

The Walking Dead is based off of the 2003 comic book from Image Comics by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. The television series caused unprecedented fanfare and has easily remained the number one cable series among adults 18-49. Inevitably, The Walking Dead-themed strains have emerged, like Walking Dead OG Kush or Wild Zombie.

The Walking Dead’s eighth season premier will air on October 22. Each episode of Cannabis Planet will air each weekend on major and independent television stations.
