While reform has moved forward in states as diverse as New York Minnesota and even areas of the south, legislatures have contemplated the legalization of CBD for childhood epilepsy. At this point,tt is easy to lose track of states where reform has lagged.  

Michigan is one of them.

But as the nation focuses even more intently on cannabis reform, even outliers like Michigan is moving forward— albeit slowly and quietly.  Recently, state Senate Majority Leader, Randy Richardville, expressed his desire to move cannabis related bills through the State Assembly perhaps before the end of this year’s legislative session.  The bills would establish preliminary dispensary regulations and legalize the sale of infused (including edible) products.

The issue of cannabis reform has now clearly filtered into key states in the Mid West, and similarly to the South East in particular, politicians are moving cautiously.  The days of letting “other state experiments” determine state policy are clearly coming to an end this year.  With the results of the mid terms now less than a month away and the topic of cannabis reform clearly at a national level, reform is moving forward in states across the country as a matter of necessity.  

After November, at least half of U.S. states will have legalized cannabis for medical or recreational use.  Given events in Michigan this week, it could be that the state becomes  one of them.
