Rock the Roc: Charlotte Figi, Remembered Through Music

Published

It feels fitting to be ringing in the 4/20 month with a special tribute concert to the beloved medical cannabis patient gone too soon, Charlotte Figi.

Put on by Realm of Caring (RoC), a cannabinoid research foundation is throwing its benefit concert, Rock the RoC, available to stream on April 7, Charlotte Figi day, via Nugs.tv. Performing will be The Avett Brothers, Jason Mraz and Michael Franti along with Ruthie Foster, Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers, Glen Phillips, Graham Nash, The War and Treaty, Johnnyswim and more. Dr. Sanjay Gupta will be there as well as a special guest, joined by Colorado Governor Jared Polis.

“We intend to expand Rock the RoC year after year as a space where the global community can come together to impactfully celebrate CBD pioneer Charlotte Figi and her legacy surrounding cannabinoid therapy,” said Realm of Caring President Heather Jackson.  “The beautiful thing about music is it carries out the three messages we hope individuals gain from this experience: to inspire, build connections and facilitate action toward a greater cause.

“We have a unique opportunity to come together to celebrate the mighty light of little Charlotte Figi through music and community and continue the great work of Realm of Caring that must continue on in her legacy of research, education and advocacy.”

Supporters of the cause can donate through RockTheRoC.org. Event sponsor Charlotte’s Web, purveyors of the cannabis that Figi relied on for healing, is also putting out the call for businesses to support their good work. Donations help with naturalistic medical cannabis data collection through Johns Hopkins University, an endeavor that helps build understanding in the cannabis realm, as well as RoC’s call center and grant program for low-income families.

“When you #RockTheRoC, you are improving the life of someone who is most likely out of medical options,” Jackson said. “You are helping someone to take control of their health through plant therapy and increasing access to potentially life-saving therapies and grants that can completely change the trajectory for a family in need.”
