Stand-up comic Edwin San
Juan recently moved from Los Angeles to Las Vegas as the resident headlining
comic at the Las Vegas Live Comedy Club, located in the Planet Hollywood. Born
in Taiwan, San Juan was a Navy kid. He has
headlined comedy clubs across the United States, entertained our troops with
the “Around the World in Eight Days” United Service Organization (USO) campaign
and has appeared on multiple Showtime Comedy Specials. San Juan has made
several television appearances on multiple networks such as ABC, BET, NBC,
Comedy Central, UPN and Si TV. The comedian also currently hosts a one-hour
comedy special and has a role in his first upcoming film, I’m Not Like That No More, co-starring stand-up comics Paul
Rodriguez and Felipe Esparza. San Juan
is excited about the prospects of everything involved at the Las Vegas Live
Comedy Club in the heart of the strip of Las Vegas.

A couple of years ago, San Juan was seen on an episode of TruTV’s Vegas Strip, in a classic scene where he
was caught smoking a joint by Las Vegas police officers outside the club he was
headlining that night. San Juan was spotted by the officers, and he proceeded to
moonwalk over the joint to crush it, but was caught in the act. San Juan was
actually able to get out of the arrest with his witty sense of humor.

“The crazy thing now is
that Nevada is now pushing towards legalizing marijuana. I’m going to push that
weed envelope a lot, now that they are trying to legalize it. With the reality
show, we are going to spin off of it something about marijuana too. It’s all
going to accumulate and come together like that. Hopefully with the
legalization of marijuana, I could be at the forefront with doing that. I like
comedians that push the envelope; like Richard Pryor, George Carlin and even
Lenny Bruce.”

San Juan is a strong cannabis proponent, and realizes the importance of its
medical benefits. “Just do it. They’ve been telling me jacking off will make me
go blind, but I still have 20/20 vision and I’m 45 years old. I’m a fan, I’m a
connoisseur. Weed is doing wonders. We’re finding out it helps hypertension,
high blood pressure, diabetes—everything that my mom has right now. If she was
to smoke, or eat some edibles or pills by consumption, it would stimulate her
appetite. Everything she needs right now is all in weed. The irony is she has
been riding my case about it for years. Now that it’s legal it’s cool, she’ll
bring back pipes for me from trips.”
