Part of being a community member in the cannabis industry means that you have to constantly educate and inform people (aka skeptics, politicians, city leaders, etc.) about why cannabis is a benefit to any city to state, as well as help those working for the city and state identify obstacles or improvements that can be made.

While not all government organizations are responsive in hearing comments from the public, it seems that the Bureau of Cannabis Control and Office of Administrative Law are genuinely interested in hearing what the general public has to say. Luckily, advocates, consumers and business owners in California have an amazing opportunity coming up to inform these two organizations about their thoughts on the current statewide proposed emergency regulations.

The Bureau recently announced that it has submitted its emergency regulations to the Office of Administrative Law (OAL). This includes all regulations regarding both “commercial medicinal and adult-use cannabis.” Alongside the announcement of this progress, the Bureau is informing those who are interested to comment to send their submissions to the OAL by Monday, December 4. According to the Bureau email announcement, all comments regarding the adoption of the regulations must be submitted with five days of the OAL posting the proposal online.

For those interested in submitted their comment, you may do so by emailing the OAL at staff@oal.ca.gov or mailing to the following address:

Office of Administrative Law
OAL Reference Attorney
300 Capital Mall, Suite 1250
Sacramento, CA 95814

According to the Bureau announcement, interested parties must also submit a copy of their comment to the Bureau as well, which is either via email at BCC.comments@dca.ca.gov, or traditional mail:

Bureau of Cannabis Control
1625 North Market Blvd., Suite S-202
Sacramento, CA 95834

This is a great opportunity for anyone living in California to make their voice heard. Whether you’re a business owner looking to identify obstacles in the current proposals, or a consumer who disagrees with a certain clause, now’s the time to make it happen.
