[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]T[/dropcap]he spirit of Halloween is in the air, and that means ghostly happenings and paranormal phenomena are upon us. In celebration of the holiday—and the great cannabis advocates that still live on in our hearts—here are five prime-picks we’d bring back as zombie comrades on this day of All Hallows’ Eve.

herer420Jack Herer

You’ve heard the name before; he’s the inspiration behind the infamous Jack Herer cannabis strain and often times referred to as The Emperor of Hemp. When Herer began compiling information on the cannabis plant and its uses in 1973, little did he know his 1985 book on his findings, The Emperor Wears No Clothes, would be used and cited in cannabis legalization efforts for decades to come.

BradleyNowellBradley Nowell

It doesn’t take an astrophysicist, a brain surgeon or even a particularly bright person to decipher why Bradley Nowell would make an ideal zombie to have at any Halloween shindig; he’s talented, he was the founder of Sublime and one last encore performance of “Smoke Two Joints” performed in Colorado or Washington today would be INSANE. Just think about it.

jerry-garciaJerry Garcia

Instead of hippie costumes flooding the dance floor, imagine the real deal in the room. Jerry Garcia, lead guitarist and songwriter of The Grateful Dead, would of course be a top pick to bring back in zombie form. Having spent a career vocalizing his love and admiration for the cannabis plant, we think he’d quite like to see and experience the progress made thus far. Did we mention our October cover stars, Ben & Jerrys, named their famous Cherry Garcia ice cream flavor after this cannabis enthusiast and counter culture icon? Yeah, he’s pretty inspirational.

forum-91Bill Buckman

We’re not sure if Bill Buckman would be jamming out on any electric guitars during his zombie revival since his accolades are found not in rock-n-roll, but in cannabis law. The New Jersey attorney and tireless game player in cannabis activism is best known for his work in the Coalition for Medical Marijuana, NORML and for simply being a go-to driving force for patient’s rights. To balance out the shenanigans in this canna-icon revival, we’d bring in Good Guy Bill to refine this spoooooooky occasion.

Jimi Hendrix

Rock Gods are among those fair few people who need little introduction, but for the sake of being informative, Jimi Hendrix, of course, is the rock-n-roll icon behind legendary songs such as “Purple Haze.” A Halloween revival of Hendrix, guitar in hand, blazing his way through that classic, classic song? Yes please.
