[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]S[/dropcap]ome previously recalled Nevada cannabis products recently failed a second yeast and mold test. Consumers have been advised to check the cannabis products they have on hand to identify these infected items and to avoid further consumption.

According to Fox 5 Vegas, the Nevada Department of Taxation issued an official warning on Sept. 16 regarding products that failed a secondary mold and yeast test. The cannabis products failed tests conducted by an independent testing laboratory.

While additional samples are being sent out for more testing at the Nevada Department of Agriculture Lab, the release is still urging consumers—especially those with yeast or mold allergies—to steer clear of  partaking in any of the product until it has been properly cleared.

According to the Nevada Department of Taxation, the affected samples were sold between July 11 and Aug. 19 in the form of flower and pre-rolls. According to a press release, and as reported by Fox 5 Vegas, the three stores that sold the affected cannabis were Acres Medical, The Apothecary Shoppe and the Blackjack Collective. The cannabis that was impacted was cultivated by D. H. Aldebaran Inc. and Las Vegas Natural Caregivers, LLC; it was harvested between May 28 and July 10.

So far, there are no reports of illness, and educational information has been made available on how mold can affect consumers. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noted that consumers should watch out for symptoms such as stuffy nose, wheezing, red or itchy eyes and irritated skin. Those who suffer from allergies or asthma may experience heightened reactions when exposed to molds. In the case of cannabis, those who have purchased an infected product can check the  label number to see if they possess the aforementioned cannabis, and then they can learn more about new test results as they become available.
