Mexico-Based Company HempMeds Will Export Hemp Oil to Colombia

California-based Medical Marijuana, Inc. announced in a press release that its subsidiary company, HempMeds Mexico, will begin exporting hemp oil to Colombia. HempMes Mexico is the first and only company that has gained this approval from the Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios (COFEPRIS).

The Colombian government is current re-evaluatings the medical benefits of cannabis products and how they are regulated. The Chief Executive Officer of Medical Marijuana, Inc., Dr. Stuart Titus, shared his excitement about this new endeavor. “We are thrilled to be able to reach Colombians with our products and to help nurture new markets there,” Dr. Titus stated. “Here in the United States, we are able to get access to RSHO and other cannabidiol (CBD) products online; however, residents of other countries are not as fortunate due to regulatory issues with cannabis-based products. We are very excited that Colombians will not have access to all of the benefits of CBD.”

HempMeds Mexico is still working with Colombian officials to create the necessary distribution channels. Once this is a reality, the company will be able to bring its hemp oil to Colombians. HempMeds Mexico also exhibitd at Expo Mede Weed in one of Colombia’s largest cities of Medellin. There were over 6,000 people in attendance at this cannabis industry event. Expo Mede Weed was two-days of vendors, panelists, speakers and exhibitors.

The President of HempMeds, Mexico, Dion Markgraaff, commented on the company’s involvement in the event. “We were proud to represent HempMeds Mexico in Colombia at Expo Mede Weed 2016,” Markgraaff said. “The event gave Colombians the opportunity to explore and interact with different cannabis companies and products while learning from experts in the industry from across the globe.”

Once HempMeds, Mexico receives the approval from the Columbian government, they will also donate hemp products to doctors and patients who may not be able to afford the cannabis products otherwise.
