Occupation: I am a National Leader for The
Human Solution, a group that believes that no one should go to jail because of a
plant. We have found out that we have almost 50 prisoners serving life
sentences for cannabis and we are trying to get them, and many more, home to
their families. To do so, we believe we need to end prohibition in 2014,
through ending bad federal laws, education, prison outreach and court support. I
educate people about our government, our court systems, our prisoners and our
rights. I am an advocate for the voiceless and I deliver a powerful message for
prisoners as a public speaker, radio show host, writer and much more.

When and how did you become an
advocate for cannabis?

What
has led me to the marijuana movement are my parents. In 2011 our federal
government raided 26 dispensaries in Montana while the state was voting to
repeal the MMJ law. My dad co-owned 5 of the 26 dispensaries that were raided
and because the federal government does not recognize the state law that my mom
and dad were following, they went to prison. While my dad was in prison, he was
extremely sick and four months into his federal sentence he died (with me by
his side) a very miserable and painful death shackled to a hospital bed. They
ignored his many medical needs, accused him of faking his medical needs causing
him to die a tormenting death. After 34 years of marriage they wouldn’t even
let my mom out of prison to say goodbye. Since my dad died, one of his partners
(Chris Williams) took his case to trial and the jury did not even know he was a
caregiver or how many people he helped because they don’t allow state laws in
federal court. I do not want to see anyone else die or go to prison for this
plant.

How has cannabis benefited your
life?

Cannabis
has opened my eyes to the best and the worst of this world. It has kept our
world turning and helped our ancestors since the beginning of time.  Now that it has been prohibited, our world is
suffering.  I have seen some dark days,
and through my pain and suffering, this plant and every benefit it brings has
kept me strong.

What’s your greatest achievement
for the cannabis cause?

I am very proud of the radio show I co-host with Joe Grumbine as the host. The
show is called News From The Front Lines.  However, my greatest achievement is The
Adopt-A-Prisoner project that Joe and I worked very hard to get launched! Since,
about 10 adoptions have been formed! Our plant prisoners live miserable lives in
tiny cells, denied their rights and are forced to work for less than 25 cents
an hour, we have devised a program where people, groups or cannabis business
can advocate and raise money for a plant prisoner who is in desperate need! The
first adoption was proudly made by the Seattle Hempfest, who adopted two prisoners
serving life sentences for our plant.  To
listen to the radio show, or find out how you can adopt a prisoner please visit
www.the-human-solution.org.

Who do you look up to or admire?

My dad
has been my #1 hero since I was born, he still is.  I look up my mom and dad the most, his
business partner Chris Williams and all of the prisoners my dad left behind. I
admire the group I represent, The Human Solution and all of my fellow members.  I admire too many people to list but I will
say the support from Joe Grumbine, Sharen Marsall and Stacey Theis and their
sacrifices keep me inspired and motivated!  I admire everyone in our nation who is taking
a stand for justice!
