Cresco Labs has announced the expansion of its partnership with rapper Wiz Khalifa’s cannabis brand to exclusively cultivate, manufacture and distribute Khalifa Kush products in the state of Massachusetts. Khalifa Kush’s KK and Khalifa Mints strains are available at dispensaries in Fall River, Framingham, Leicester and Worcester with an expanded product line expected to arrive at additional retailers.

“We’re thrilled to continue collaborating with the Khalifa Kush brand in the Massachusetts market after a successful partnership launch with them in California that has grown to include new, bestselling products,” said Charlie Bachtell, CEO and Co-founder of Cresco Labs. “Massachusetts, where we have the number one share and bestselling flower and concentrates branded portfolio, continues to be an important growth market for Cresco Labs, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring Khalifa Kush’s top-quality products to our Sunnyside stores and excite and delight our customers on the East Coast.”

“We are excited to launch the Khalifa Kush brand in our tenth state and second alongside the Cresco team, bringing our exclusive genetics, KK and Khalifa Mints, to the people of Massachusetts. Grown by one of the industry’s best cultivators, it’s everything the East Coast needs,” said Wiz Khalifa.

Wiz Khalifa previously partnered with Cresco Labs to launch the Khalifa Kush brand in California, with Cresco’s FloraCal Farms and Continuum being named the sole producer of Khalifa Kush products in California. Through the partnership, Khalifa Kush products are available at Cookies dispensaries throughout the state.

“FloraCal Farms and Continuum, with their best-in-class cultivation capabilities and significant scale and penetration, have proven to be the premier cultivator and distribution platform in the largest and most competitive market in the country, and we’re honored to partner with their teams to expand Khalifa Kush’s footprint in California,” said DJ Saul, CEO of Khalifa Kush.

The Pittsburgh rapper’s cannabis line has been rapidly expanding its product offerings to different states following the initial launch of the brand as a medical cannabis company in 2015. Khalifa Kush was launched in the rapper’s native Pennsylvania in December 2022 through a partnership with Trulieve and through that partnership has also seen the product line expand in Florida and Maryland, with Khalifa Kush products available in all Trulieve-branded stores in the state. The brand is also available in Michigan exclusively at Gage Cannabis locations.

Khalifa Kush Enterprises has also partnered with Toronto-based cannabis investment company The Supreme Cannabis Company to develop a line of premium cannabis products to be solid in Canada and other international markets. Under the partnership, Supreme Cannabis will become the exclusive producer for KKE products in Canada and other potential international markets, including an exclusive strain to be developed based on the Khalifa Kush strain. The two companies will also work to develop an entire line of cannabis products including pre-rolls, extracts, capsules, and cannabis oils to be sold under the KKE brand by Supreme Cannabis.

A recent analysis of cannabis brands in the state of California has revealed celebrity-backed cannabis brands tend to be more successful on the market than traditional brands. The data provided by cannabis analytics provider Headset found celebrity-backed cannabis products tend to be cheaper than traditional brands and ten different celebrity cannabis brands brought in more monthly revenue than the $26,591 made by traditional cannabis brands. Khalifa Kush was listed as one of the top brands in the state of California, bringing in over $100,000 in monthly revenue.

While Khalifa has long been known as a cannabis advocate, he has also ventured in the realm of psychedelics by launching his own mushroom wellness brand Mistercap Magic Truffles, in partnership with Canadian-based company Red Light Holland.
