John DunsworthJohn Dunsworth, who starred as Jim Lahey on the mockumentary Trailer Park Boys and the drama Haven, has sadly passed away at the age of 71 due to an “unexpected illness.” Dunsworth will be most remembered for his humorous portrayals of the drunken trailer park supervisor and cop who constantly chased after the cannabis-growing trio Julian, Ricky and Bubbles, earning himself the title of “the greatest drunk of all time.”

Dunsworth’s real-life daughter Sarah also starred on the show as Sarah. “With heavy and broken hearts the family of John F. Dunsworth would like to let people know that our amazing husband, father and grandfather John Dunsworth has passed away,” Sarah Dunsworth tweeted yesterday. Dunsworth was born on April 12, 1946 and leaves behind a long legacy of acting in the Canadian film industry.

Several other cast members reacted to the sad news. “I am beyond devastated. John was a beautiful guy. Brilliant and fascinating. I am forever grateful for having known him. RIP my friend,” Mike Smith (Bubbles) tweeted.

“John Dunsworth was all of our father on set yet the biggest kid at heart. Curious. Mischievous. Spirited. I’d often just stop & watch,” Jonathan Torrens (J-Roc) tweeted. “If only we could live out lives with a fraction of the wonder that John did,” Torrens added.

The Trailer Park Boys cast sell cannabis fictionally on screen and in real life after partnering with OrganiGram, however a pesticide issue has delayed sales. OrganiGram is based in Moncton, New Brunswick, the same hometown as many of the series’ cast members. The Trailer Park Boys have also launched their own line of beer, as well as a restaurant and bar. The series began on Canada’s Showcase and made its way onto Netflix in 2014. The show’s impressive list of cameos includes Snoop Dogg, Ellen Page and Jimmy Kimmel, and the plotline frequently revolves around cannabis.
