How would you describe your company?

We are a Medical Cannabis Educational Conference & Expo provider focused on delivering to the healthcare professional community.

What is your specialty?

Providing quality education for healthcare, business and legal professionals on medical cannabis from experts in the industry. We offer CMEs, CNEs and CLEs. We have an Exhibit Hall with companies providing products and services interested in bettering the medical cannabis community.

What do you offer consumers/clients that others don’t?

A quality environment to learn from experts, without commercial bias, and the latest information on medical cannabis.

How and why did your company start up?

The partners had similar passion to help educate and help healthcare professionals, other professionals and the public to know the truth about medical cannabis and its benefits.

With the changing landscape of medical and recreational cannabis, what do you see as the biggest challenges to your progress as a company?

There are too many regulations and laws, which differ from state to state for medical cannabis, and people do not fully understand medical cannabis’ benefits. In addition, pharmaceutical companies are against [cannabis] as it cuts into their business and support the lobbying against medical cannabis and the promoting of misinformation.

Any advantages?

More and more states are legalizing medical cannabis so it is becoming more and more at the forefront of people’s minds, and they are thirsty for this information. The demand for credible, academic and evidence based information about this subject matter is at an all time peak for healthcare professionals and the public.

Also, we do not refer to medical cannabis at medical. The slang term of marijuana is not used in our business and the healthcare industry as that is not the scientific name of the plant. Our preference is to use the scientific name, cannabis, rather than the common or slang name, marijuana, because we align with evidence-based research and practices that further an understanding of the medical potential of the cannabis plant. Furthermore, marijuana has negative associations, a term that carries a devastating legacy of public misperception, racial discrimination and injustice perpetuated in the early half of the 20th century.

What words of advice would you offer anyone seeking to enter the world of cannabis business?  

Be prepared to be a pioneer, because there are still many areas that are changing rapidly, and the regulations are still being defined. Also, find people to work with that you can truly trust.

What are the goals and vision moving forward, for your company?

Educate the healthcare community so they can feel knowledgeable and confident to help their patients understand the benefits and uses for their conditions.

Where do you see your company in five years?

Providing medical cannabis education to healthcare professionals in other countries (Australia, etc.) as well as the U.S.—thus around the world. Internationally aligning with our name International Canna Pro Expo.

What do you hope to accomplish in the cannabis industry?

Be the leader and authority to the medical community on medical cannabis. Being the premier education connector and networking conference of the medical cannabis healthcare community internationally. In addition, help influence changing the industry name to be the medical cannabis industry from MMJ industry.
