Planet 13 has announced that Cannabition, an immersive cannabis experience, will return to the company’s Las Vegas SuperStore.

Headed by Keneh Ventures and designed by renowned Broadway creative director David Korins, the 12,000 square foot “whimsical and visually breathtaking environment” is tailor-made for cannabis consumers looking for a cannabis-inspired Vegas experience. There will also be a first-of-its-kind consumption lounge in addition to a space for live events. Construction of Cannabition is set to be completed during the first quarter of 2024. A previous iteration of Cannabition featured 12 small exhibits that taught visitors the chemistry behind cannabis and cannabis culture since the 1960s, as well as a 24-foot bong.

“We can’t wait to have Cannabition open in our SuperStore with its fascinating interactive exhibits to continue to separate Planet 13 Las Vegas as a one-of-a-kind immersive entertainment experience for our customers,” said Bob Groesbeck, Co-CEO of Planet 13. “Along with this amazing Instagrammable experience, we are adding a first of its kind consumption lounge adjacent to Cannabition with space for live entertainment. We are executing our stated strategy of filling out the remaining space at the Las Vegas SuperStore to drive more foot traffic, reduce lease expenses, and diversify revenue streams.”

“I’ve had the incredible privilege of visually telling some of the most extraordinary stories in recent years, but none compare to the history, passion, tragedy, and triumph embodied by the cannabis story in America,” said David Korins. “Being entrusted with bringing this captivating narrative to life in an educational yet enthralling manner is a distinct honor, and I simply can’t wait to dive into the exhilarating world of the new Cannabition.”

Planet 13 was one of three businesses approved by the Cannabis Compliance Board to proceed with opening a cannabis consumption lounge in Nevada. The board initially awarded 40 prospective business licenses across the state before two of three conditional licenses were offered to Planet 13 and the Thrive Cannabis Marketplace in Clark County, while Washoe County’s The Venue at Sol Cannabis also received a license. The board stated those with conditional licenses may continue working on the necessary preparations for the opening of cannabis consumption lounges. A final inspection by CCB Board Agents is also required for the venues to open. The board also recently voted to adopt regulations for greater flexibility in air ventilation requirements for cannabis consumption lounges, which officials say will help reduce the barrier of entry for all potential licensees.

“This is where it will be going, so this wall will actually come down,” said David Farris, vice president of sales and marketing at Planet 13. “Right now we are standing in our phase four of construction, we did just break ground recently and we are orchestrating the buildings. We get asked about it every single day by most customers who are coming in.”

Immersive cannabis experiences have been popping up all over the country as legalization spreads, giving people a chance to learn about and celebrate cannabis through art and culture. The first-ever immersive cannabis pop-up in New York launched in 2021, and The House of Cannabis opened the city’s first-ever permanent cannabis museum in April 2023 where The House of Cannabis CEO and co-founder Robert Frey said visitors can “learn a little bit more about cannabis and how it touches art and film and fashion and music.”

“We thought it’d be a great opportunity to come to New York with the cannabis market about to really take off here and become the epicenter for cannabis in America,” said Frey, who worked on the project alongside his wife and co-founder, Marcelle.
