Humboldt Distillery has released a cannabis-infused vodka that uses America’s first legal crop of hemp since restrictions were lifted in 2014. According to CivilizedHumboldt County in California grows some of America’s most potent cannabis, and now the distillers in the area are utilizing its famous name and reputation for strong cannabis to market particular liquor, vodka.

The hemp seed-infused vodka is using cannabis supplied by Orhempco Inc., located in the south of Oregon, and is the first crop used in the U.S. since restrictions were lifted as part of the 2014 United States Farm Bill.

We’re not sure whether any cannabinoids have been left in the distilled vodka, it does contain a 40% ABV or 80 proof, and the makers of Humboldt Vodka say that the hemp used gives the vodka a “unique botanical character,” that can be used to enhance all manner of cocktails and even be enjoyed neat. The rich and newly innovated terpene science is definitely at play in this vodka, but there may also be other added benefits in drinking the hemp-infused liquor, like CBD and THCA, some of the most beneficial cannabinoids in the carboxylated hemp/cannabis plant.

Humboldt Distillery is owned and operated by Abe Stevens, a fifth generation native of Humboldt. He is a scientist by training and an aficionado of finely crafted foods and beverages. With degrees in chemistry and biochemistry, his love of biochemistry and science has led him to find a passion in terpene science and flavor profiles of plant-based chemistry.

Humboldt hemp-infused vodka is not the first of its kind, there are many others in Europe and Canada like Left Coast Hemp Vodka from Victoria Spirits out of British Columbia, and Mary Jane’s Primo Hemp vodka and gin, and even a few in America, like Dehner’s Hemp-Infused Vodka, Earth Mama Vodka, and Colorado High Hemp Vodka.
