Hangover Cures

Another New Year has come and gone, and 2018 has finally arrived. Before you prepare for the positive news for cannabis that this year will surely bring, before you start enacting those New Year’s resolutions and certainly before you go back to work—you’ll need to figure out how to tame that post-New Year’s Eve hangover. While you can continue to postpone that eventful evening with the whole “hair of the dog” method, here’s a reminder of some of the best tried-and-true hangover cures that you need to try.

KEEP CALM AND CONSUME CANNABIS

Cannabis is the key. We already know how beneficial cannabis can be, as it is used for so many medical conditions, both great and small. Nausea is a common side effect of cancer patients, and cannabis is often prescribed for such use—so it’s a no-brainer to consume cannabis in order to curb that feeling.

HYDRATE IMMEDIATELY

Water is the lifeblood of the world, without it no one could survive. Alcohol will dehydrate your body quickly, so start off your day with some quality H20. Fruit and vegetable juices can also be helpful, but avoid anything that has too much sugar. Beverages such as Gatorade or Pedialyte (a drink normally used to treat nausea in children) hydrate with electrolytes, making them excellent ways to rehydrate your body quickly.

EAT A HEARTY BREAKFAST

This is common sense, but after a night of drinking alcohol, your body needs to refuel. Many experience low blood sugar during this time, which can nausea and fatigue, among other symptoms. Any meal you would consider hearty is helpful. Think breakfast sandwiches, eggs, potatoes, scarfing up proteins such as sausage, or anything you would consider to be greasy (but satisfying). Some people believe that Vietnamese pho can work wonders because the broth is packed with minerals and the added protein just tops it off. Check out CULTURE’s various cannabis-infused recipes from over the years to find the right meal for you.

GET ACTIVE

Although counterintuitive depending on how bad the hangover might be, try going for a brisk walk shortly after you wake up. Stretch your body, get your blood pumping and help push your metabolism back into gear. Doing this will help your body get rid of toxins just a little bit quicker. If a walk seems unbearable, at least put on your favorite song and dance for a few minutes. You know you were drunk-talking about loving “Despacito” the night before anyway.

Ideally, someone looking to survive a hangover should do all of the above for the best results!
