How and when did your dispensary start
up?

We
started in 2009 as a cultivation-only operation, but HB-1284 required us to
have dispensaries as well. In 2010, we acquired three locations, but sold our
Georgetown store. Our current medical-only dispensaries are located in Lakewood
and Englewood/SW Denver.

What’s the story behind the name of your
dispensary?

It
started as a joke, but the name fits. We wanted to offer connoisseur-quality
products in a friendly and accessible environment. Our patients tell us we
should’ve been called “Great Meds,” but “Good Meds” fits our brand personality
much better.

What does your dispensary offer customers
that they can’t find anywhere else?

We
care. Service and quality are the cornerstones of the experience, but we
understand that patients aren’t one-size-fits-all, and we offer products to
cater to diverse needs. We have over 120 elite genetics in our garden. This allows
us to offer a variety of options from six high-CBD strains, two-thirds that
test over 20 percent total cannabinoids, and many that test over 30 percent
total THC. Our team goes above and beyond to help our patients, not just
because it’s part of our culture, but also because it’s who they are.

How has the cannabis industry changed
since you have been in the business? Where would you like to see it go?

The
industry has matured significantly and will continue to do so. Patients are
smart and sophisticated. They understand the difference between good products
and bad products, and overwhelmingly prefer quality. My partners and I never
sacrificed on quality at the expense of making more money. We don’t do things
well because they’re required, we do them well because it’s the right way to
run a business.

What are the biggest challenges you face
in this industry as a dispensary? . . . Biggest joys?

People
committed to advancing cannabis understand that this is an ongoing process. Patients
are still being denied safe access to cannabis, and many are just starting to
get comfortable with the idea. Unfortunately, the extremely sick are often the
most vulnerable. That’s why the CannAbility Foundation was created, to be a
place for families with kids living with sickness and disability to find
resources to help advance their understanding about how cannabis and other
natural treatments may help. Banking is an issue for us too. That’s why I’m
proud to be on the founding board of the Fourth Corner Credit Union, the
world’s first marijuana financial institution.
