We’ve always wanted to live a life like The Jetsons. This animated family lived in a futuristic utopia complete with robot maids and elaborate electronic contraptions typical of the year 2062—otherwise known as a mere 50 years from now. And as far as we can tell the closest thing we’ve come to meeting the world of Cogswell Cogs and Spacely Space Sprockets is this flying car by Terrafugia. The aviation company has developed and tested a prototype of its personal airplane/automobile: Transition. The Transition—“the Roadable Light Sport Aircraft”—literally transitions from air flight to ground travel. It may look like a plane in the air but once on ground Transition stows its wings until its next flight. If only George, Jane, Judy and Elroy could see us now. But I’ve gotta ask: What’s the insurance on this thing gonna cost?
