Create Your Own D.I.Y. Pumpkin Beverage Dispenser

[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]L[/dropcap]eading up to Halloween, there are plenty of ways to get into the spirit of the season. These celebrations consist of two senses: sight and taste. Decorations abound, there are countless ways to decorate the interior or exterior of a house, and many ways to be creative with a costume. But the real excitement behind Halloween is flavor. Not just through sugary treats for the kids, but through seasonal produce like pumpkin and apples. And this is where CULTURE has you covered. Checking both the sight and taste checkboxes, there is one awesome way to celebrate Halloween—a D.I.Y. pumpkin spout filled with your favorite infused drinks.

What You Need:

1 pumpkin carving tools

1 large pumpkin

1 spigot

1 cold drink of choice

Step 1: The Pumpkin Routine

Grab a large pumpkin, cut a large hole into the top, and scoop out all of the innards. (Be sure to save the pumpkin seeds for roasting later!) Remove all seeds and strings to ensure that the interior is completely clean and free of any loose pumpkin bits.

Step 2: The Spigot Ticket

Determine where you want your spigot to be placed. You can be creative and decorate your pumpkin with a face, allowing the spigot to be centered where the mouth is located. Cut a hole where the spigot should go carefully, ensuring that it isn’t too large. Continue to shave the pumpkin’s interior around where the spigot will be placed, about 1/4 of an inch thin. Insert spigot until secure.

Step 3: Drink Preparations

The best part of this easy idea is that you can put any beverage inside of the pumpkin. CULTURE recommends drinks such as apple cider, or any other soda or beverage that you’d like to infuse.

Step 4: Clean Up

After an evening of containing liquid, the pumpkin should not be reused for any purpose. Be sure to dispose of it once your party is over.
