[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]A[/dropcap] voluntary recall is underway in the Denver, Colorado area for cannabis that was revealed to have elevated levels of mold and yeast, according to the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE).

Doctor’s Orders LLC, a Colorado-based cannabis dispensary and cultivation operation, has issued a voluntary recall of flower, pre-rolls and shake on Dec. 14. Doctor’s Orders decided to recall  product from a number of dispensaries in and around Denver since it is also a wholesale provider that distributes products to these retailers. Any cannabis products with the license number 403-R-00045 that has been purchased through July 31 are subject to the recall. “Plant material from Doctor’s Orders cultivation may have been sold from other dispensaries other than those listed below if purchased prior to August 1, 2018,” the announcement reads. “Consumers who have these recalled products should dispose of the ducts or return them to the store from which they were purchased.”

The  DDPHE mentioned in their announcement that here have been no illnesses reported and the health risks of consuming these products with the elevated levels of mold and yeast are still unknown. The mold and yeast issues were revealed during an investigation of the company’s cultivation facility. “Short-term and long-term health impacts resulting from inhalation exposure to such contaminants may exist depending on the duration, frequency, level of exposure, route of exposure, and health condition of the consumer,” the department stated in a news release. “Consumers with concerns about their personal health should contact their physician with related questions,” the department stated in a news release.

The recall is the third this month for the Denver area, but the first in 18 months over mold concerns. Current product from Doctor’s Orders are not being recalled.

“All products that are being sold out of our retail shop are perfectly safe to consume and have passed all testing required by the state of Colorado. If there are any questions or concerns, we are more than happy to address them. We are fully dedicated to providing our customers with high quality, clean products,” the company said in a statement.
