(I-502 Recreational)

Interviewed:
Adam
Schmidt and Shawn Sortland (owners), and Brian Atcheson (Marketing Director).

How and
when did your access point start up?

Adam Schmidt: We started in February
of 2013 as a medical collective. We were a collective until May 2014. We got
word that we would have the opportunity to obtain our recreational. license on
May 8. Right away we were into it, and decided that we were going to shut down
the collective so we could move forward with this.

Brian
Atcheson:
And
Addo did his first summersault, I think, that day.

Shmidt: August 15, we opened
our recreational shop.

 What is
the story behind your name?

Schmidt: We just don’t like
murky indecisions. I like our name, Clear Choice, because it doesn’t scream
cannabis. We can use it in different places where some people might not be able
to use their name or their logo.

Atcheson: It makes it easy for
the customer, because the customer can just simply make the “clear choice.”

What does your access
point offer that you can’t find anywhere else?

Schmidt: We offer a nice spacious
environment, a very well-lit, safe parking lot and a lot of glassware that’s
hard to find anywhere. Even in some shops it’s hard to find some of the
selection of quality glass.

Shawn Sortland: The five-star customer service
is something that no other place has. You go into most other places and it’s
like, “What do you want? Get in. Get out.” We talk to [customers], we smile at
them. We have a top-notch customer service. We have knowledge of the product,
if someone wants a certain feeling at a certain time of day; they want to
smoke, they get it. Most places you don’t get that. You don’t know what’s what.
We train these guys to know exactly what the strains are, what they do and how
they affect people.

Did having a medical
collective before help?

Sortland: Having a medical
collective was like going to college for weed.

What is one thing you
want people to know about your access point?

Schmidt: We put our heart and
soul into this place. We put all our effort into this place and I think it
shows when you come here. Our employees are on-point and everybody’s nice and friendly.

Sortland: We put our love and
passion into this product.

What is the most
important thing you hope to accomplish while in the cannabis community?

Schmidt: This is so new and so
fragile that I just want to be a part of stabilizing it and actually making it
work because it’s too soon to say, “this worked.” I want to make sure it works
and I want to be part of that.

Sortland: We have the belief that
if we can be a part of it, then we could help mold it in the right direction.
