Cannabis CommunityOn May 15, a Colorado Springs radio station announced a long-awaited cannabis community talk radio show that will focus on cannabis education, information and civil discourse. The Colorado Media Justice Foundation launched the talk show which will be broadcast on KCMJ 93.9 FM in Colorado Springs.

The “Cannabis Community Radio Show” will air each Monday night at 11 p.m. MST. Talk show host KC Stark, who has been described as the “Steve Jobs of Weed,” will host a weekly late night talk show that explores the many facets of the cannabis industry. The show will feature weekly special guests including elected officials, patients, doctors and scientists.

“We are living in the age of cannabis and in the midst of a social, economic, political and agricultural revolution unlike anything we’ve seen since 1933, the end of prohibition and the repeal of the 18th amendment,” Stark said in a press release. “These are historic times and talk radio will play a critical role in helping to educate and inform our communities.”

The show’s promoters intend on presenting fair and balanced coverage of the cannabis and hemp industries. “Cannabis is a $1.3 billion industry in Colorado, and is not going anywhere,” said Dennis Apuan, Founding Board Member at KCMJ. “While we have seen a number of benefits with legalization, it continues to be a divisive topic in the community. With the new show we hope to offer this open dialogue, on air, and encourage listeners to take part in this important weekly discussion.” Apuan was elected as a Colorado State Representative from 2009-2011.

The show is blazing the way into uncharted territory in the world of radio talk shows. Digital radio shows, such as Cannabis Radio or the Cannabis Network Radio on cannabis-friendly Sirius XM offer radio programs focused on cannabis but few shows are featured on FM public radio.
