[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]S[/dropcap]even months after California’s recreational cannabis industry began, state officials have finally released the final draft of proposed cannabis regulations.

The State Cannabis Licensing Authorities announced in a press release on July 13 that the final regulations are now open to the public for viewing. Now that cannabis advocates, employees and business owners can view these rules (a total of 315 pages of documents), a 45-day public comment period will commence. Lori Ajax, the chief of the Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC), released a brief statement to address this next step. ““The emergency rulemaking process provided an opportunity to evaluate how the rules were working for businesses throughout the supply chain,” she wrote. “The regulations we now propose include changes that make it easier for businesses to operate and strengthen public health and safety policies.”

These rules, entitled the “Summary of Proposed Regulatory Changes,” address a variety of topics including how the BCC will control licensees, rules for defining distributors and how they will be allowed to operate, retailers, microbusinesses, cannabis events, testing laboratories, enforcement and “other provisions.” These include everything from free rein for cannabis delivery businesses, loosening restrictions for advertising and even establishing restrictions for cannabis events.
