According to a press release put out by Plus Products, the company officially announced that the donation would be given to a group that serves LGBTQ people in the area. “We’re proud to partner with local businesses that are committed to supporting the SF LGBT Center and building a better Bay Area,” said Dani Siragusa, the SF LGBT Center’s Director of Development, according to the press release. “This generous donation demonstrates Plus’ investment in the LGBTQ+ community as well as the overwhelming enthusiasm of fellow Californians to work with us to create a more welcoming, equitable world.”

Jake Heimark, co-founder and CEO of Plus Products, stated his motives for choosing SF LGBT Center as the recipient of this donation. “This limited edition and the accompanying donation is just a small way for Plus to show support for the LGBTQ+ community,” said Heimark. “Our company was honored to have the opportunity to work with the SF LGBT Center this year. We care deeply about being a truly engaged partner and look forward to finding more opportunities to work together in the future.”

The press release states that the company sold more of the product than any previous release of their limited edition summer edibles product. Products are currently only available in California, but Plus also hopes to expand to Nevada in the future.

This is an especially important move, as many companies release Pride products during the summer, but it’s not always clear where the proceeds from these profits usually end up.

Cannabis and LGBTQ communities have a history of working together to overcome adversity and California is always embracing radical change, including legal mushrooms in the San Francisco area. This is another step towards California being even more inclusive within their cannabis industry and to all members of the cannabis community.
