A recent study conducted in
Germany proves that even something as simple as breaking up cannabis and having
residue on your fingers can cause a failed drug test.

This study was conducted by the University of Freiburg. The
science behind the idea was simple: ten participants had to role one joint a
day, and take a urine test every day. The study showed that by the middle of
the study, most of those involved tested positive for THCA and THC, and four
weeks after the test, the THC levels were still noticeable when hair was
tested. This means that a month after touching cannabis, you can still test
positive in some ways for the substance.

On the surface this may sound like bad news, but the
implication is that cannabis testing cannot really prove that someone used the
substance, and is therefore not verifiable. This could potentially stop the
horror stories of mandatory testing that lead
to false positives
, lost jobs, and wrecked lives. Hopefully, if these findings
and studies are propelled furthered by other universities and institutions, our
primitive methods of cannabis testing can be done away with altogether.
