Cannabis LabNevada’s 374 Labs became the first cannabis testing facility in the state to gain international accreditation, as it received its ISO 17025 on December 8, according to Northern Nevada Business Weekly.

Dr. Jeff Angermann is the Assistant Professor at University of Nevada, Reno’s School of Community Health Sciences. He shared the importance of this accreditation in a press release. “As Nevada transitions into an adult-use marijuana market, it’s very important that the state’s cannabis testing laboratories are held to the highest standards—and ISO 17025 is a requirement of top testing laboratories in all industries from biotech to forensics in most major countries,” Dr. Angermann stated.

The team at 374 Labs consists of technical experts who combined have more than 25 years of experience. The focus of 374 Labs is customer service, management and training, which allows the lab to “produce sample data of the highest integrity, ensuring health and safety,” according to the company’s website.

374 Labs is focused on bringing consistent and accurate cannabis testing to the market, and it was a big proponent of Nevada’s medical cannabis lab testing program. This round-robin testing program takes each cannabis or cannabis product sample, and it has each cannabis lab in Nevada test the product. By comparing results, they make sure cannabis testing processes are consistent across the state. The program is administered by both the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) and the Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA).

Laboratory Director Jason Strull shared the importance of this red-robin testing in a release. “In other states proficiency involves testing pre-prepared, purified samples and neglects the challenges of coaxing out delicate analytes from the complex array of compounds found in actual marijuana,” Strull state. “I commend the DPBH and NDA for facilitating such an advanced quality program.”

This laboratory has done even more for Nevada’s cannabis industry, as it has partnered with Clean Green to provide organic certification. Clean Green is nationally-recognized, and it uses USDA organic certification for verifying organic cannabis. When cannabis businesses are dedicated to ensuring the safest, most consistent and reliable methods for our industry, it is an important role in ensuring the industry is moving in the right direction.
