How and when did your access point start up?

We originally started as a medical dispensary five-and-a-half years ago at this location. We then opened our first recreational store in Des Moines. It was so well received by the public that we were able to re open this second location a month ago now available to everyone over 21. Both of our locations are still able to help medical patients.

What does your access point offer patients that they can’t find anywhere else?

We have a huge selection of products. We carry products from specialty companies that you might not find in other places. We always strive to have products for everyone’s individual needs and budgets.

How has the cannabis industry in Washington changed since you have been in the business? Where would you like to see it go?

Five-and-a-half years ago, the products were not tested like they are now. Today’s products adhere to much more stringent regulations and monitoring, which is wonderful for the consumer because they are getting a much purer product. Moving forward, I would like to see less taxation to lower consumer prices along with products with higher milligram dosages to address certain client needs.

What are the biggest challenges you face in this industry as an access point? . . . Biggest joys?

The biggest challenge is banking. My biggest joy is that I get to work in an industry I love because I love cannabis and it truly is my passion. It is also remarkable to know that I provide the public with a much safer alternative than alcohol, opiate pain medication and cigarettes.

What is the one thing you want patients to know about your access point?

We want customers to know that all of our employees are very knowledgeable about all of the products we carry and we are here to provide the best experience every time our clients visit our store. Our goal is that each customer finds a warm, comfortable environment an attentive staff every time they visit. We always have a large selection of cannabis products to fit everyone’s budget . . . at the end of the day we strive to carry the highest quality products for the best price.

If someone wanted to open an access point and get their feet wet in the industry, what advice or counsel would you give them?
It is not as cut and dry as you would think, you are not an instant millionaire just because you own a retail marijuana business. Make sure you have a vast knowledge of all aspects of the cannabis industry.
