How and when did your access point start up? We originally started as a medical store helping patients. We saw that Washington State was moving to a recreational model and wanted to be sure we were transitioning with the state. We obtained a recreational license and were the first store in Washington to be inspected by the Liquor and Cannabis Board.
What does your access point offer patients that they can’t find anywhere else?
We really do our due diligence to find the best cannabis products in the state. When we operated our medical store it was like college, now we are in the big leagues. What customers will find when they come visit us at our store is a strong passion for cannabis and its culture. Along with friendly and knowledgeable staff in a very modern professional atmosphere.
How has the cannabis industry in Washington changed since you have been in the business? Where would you like to see it go?
The cannabis industry has changed dramatically since we first started. In the beginning, it was a loosely regulated medical climate. Now, there are a lot more regulations and products available to the clients. Moving forward, I would like to see where our tax dollars are going to so we can have a better understanding of how the tax money is helping our state and local community.
What are the biggest challenges you face in this industry as an access point? . . . Biggest joys?
Our biggest challenge is trying to operate like any other legal business but being held to different banking and tax standards. It feels so great to know we help boost the economy and that I am able to employ 25 people by helping them grow professionally and creating opportunity for their families to have a good life. We love the fact that we have an opportunity to help educate and champion the plant; while providing safe, tested cannabis products to our clients.
