Wiz Khalifa’s Khalifa Kush Brand To Launch in California Dispensaries

Wiz Khalifa is already well-known for his love of cannabis, and now the rapper is moving further into the booming industry, striking a deal that will see his signature Khalifa Kush weed brand on store shelves across California, according to a Billboard report.

Khalifa has spent his career advocating for cannabis legalization and teamed up with leading cannabis operator Cresco Labs in a venture described as a “cultivation and product collaboration partnership.”

The partnership was announced January 18, and Cresco’s FloraCal Farms and Continuum will be the respective sole producer of KK’s products throughout California.

Khalifa spoke out about the partnership in a statement, “We’re excited to launch Khalifa Kush in California with Cresco labs, we’ve been working for years on this project. The KK grown at FloraCal is the best I’ve smoked and can’t wait for the people of California to enjoy the original KK.”

The Khalifa Kush strain will be available to California Smokers through a variety of flower-centric products, including your standard loose bud and pre-rolls, along with an expanded line to come later in the year. It is said to have been “founded, perfected, and enjoyed by Wiz Khalifa over the last decade.

The Khalifa Kush website notes that the staring was developed specifically for Khalifa’s personal tastes and has been held close within his private stashes in Los Angeles. He first shared KK with the world back in 2014, and shortly following, began the first KK flower sales in 2016 at Tryke’s Reef Dispensaries in the Southwestern U.S.

Khalifa has a team between Pittsburgh and LA that works to bring his products to market across the U.S. and around the world.

“Everything we do is rooted in authenticity, consistency, and a quality first, no sacrifices approach,” the website states.

For Khalifa fans looking to rep his new brand, KK gear will be sold exclusively at Cookies stores upon launch, with plans to expand to additional retail partnerships throughout the year, the statement notes.

Khalifa has been in the music scene for some time, initially releasing his first mixtape in 2004. He was thrust into the public scene and accelerated career momentum after the release of 2015’s “See You Again” featuring Charlie Puth, which was commissioned for the soundtrack of Furious 7 as a tribute to late franchise actor Paul Walker. The track shot to number one on the BIllboard Hot 100 Chart and the music video was the most-viewed on YouTube for a period of time.

He’s earned 10 Grammy Award nominations, and he most recently dropped his Wiz Got Wings mixtape last year, his first full-length release since 2018’s Rolling Papers 2. While he recently recovered from COVID-19, it’s looking as though 2022 will provide an abundance of new opportunities for Khalifa.

He’s also teamed up with Juicy J for Stoners Night, a project due later in 2022 with songs featuring Project Pat and more.

Khalifa is far from the first celebrity or musician to get involved with cannabis. Of course, there are legacy icons like Willy Nelson who have gotten in on the action, but iconic artists like Jay-Z have thrived in the space for some time. Jay-Z’s Monogram brand first launched its products in California in late 2020, defining the brand through “dignity, care and consistency.”

His wife and fellow music icon Beyoncé also spoke out last year in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar about the benefits of CBD. She said she discovered the benefits of the cannabinoid on her last tour and has reaped the benefits in treating soreness and inflammation, adding that she is building a hemp and honey farm.

Whether or not we’ll see a Beyoncé CBD brand or the like remains to be seen, but the year is young.
