American songwriting legend and “outlaw” Willie Nelson launched Willie’s Reserve , his own line of cannabis, in 2015. On Jan. 31, Nelson announced that the company is launching a new product line sourced from sungrown cannabis.

“We’re on the right side of history,” Nelson stated in a press release. “People have spoken with their votes and their dollars. Now that we’ve proven regulating and taxing is good for individuals and business and states, it’s pretty clear that pot is good for America.” And he’s right—Nelson is on the right side of history as states that allow legal cannabis are now facing pushback from the Department of Justice.

The company also announced that is has raised $12 million in funding expansion led by Tuatara Capital, a cannabis-focused firm. Willie’s Reserve™ is marketed by GCH Inc., a Colorado-based firm.

The cannabis will be sourced from sustainable outdoor farms in Colorado and Washington state. “I’m glad a lot of these guys can come out of the shadows, back into the sunlight,” Nelson added. “Cannabis is also creating some good opportunities for American farmers.”

Annie’s Edibles, the line of edibles launched by Nelson’s wife Annie Nelson, also announced the launch of four types of chocolate. Flavors include Maui Espresso Bean, Roasted Cacao Nibs, Dark Chocolate and Chocolate Almond. Infused hard candy is also available and flavors include Honeysuckle Hot, Fresh Maple Blossom, Strawberry Lemonade, Cherry Watermelon, Sour Tangie, Mountain Berry and Peppermint.

Nelson’s support for cannabis is strong—so strong that Woody Harrelson was embarrassed to tell Nelson that he’d quit smoking cannabis. “At first, I was pretending (to smoke), just holding (the joint) because I didn’t want him to know,” Harrelson admitted to Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Nelson, at age 84, is showing no signs of slowing down in the cannabis industry despite being hospitalized in August 2017 and recently in January, being afflicted by the powerful flu season.
