As if a member of Slipknot could give you worse nightmares. Enter M. Shawn Crahan, the founder of Iowa’s baddest boys of noise-metal and the author of Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey, his latest creation for MTV Books due out June 19. No, it’s not a collection of autopsy photos and morgue pix . . . but it’s not much better. Rather, Apocalyptic is a collection of Crahan’s experimental photography (he’s partial to Polaroids). And it took no less of a badass than Metallica skinsman Lars Ulrich to write the forward to Apocalyptic: “And as you’re going on that trip through this book, occasionally imagine Clown next to you. Imagine hearing his voice in your head talking about what these images and experiences have meant to him and where he was going with it.” Sweet dreams.
