Wanda Sykes initially made her mark on The Chris Rock Show as both a writer and actress; she later starred in her own television series, Wanda At Large and talk show The Wanda Sykes Show. She’s an Emmy Award winner and has been named one of Entertainment Weekly’s 25 funniest people in America. But her first career choice was marketing. After college, Sykes went on to be a procurement officer with the National Security Agency. One night in 1987, she performed stand-up for the first time in front of a live audience at a Coors Light Super Talent Showcase in Washington, D.C. Sykes returns to her stand-up roots this year making a stop in Long Beach for her national tour.
